Bali Blue Moon is an atypical Indonesian coffee from small farms in Bali's Kintamani Highlands: mandarin orange and chocolate fragrance, a sweet orange-juice acidity, a rich body and a long chocolate-milk finish. Sold in 2 lb and 5 lb bags.
A small group of farmers in the Subak Abian grows this coffee high in the Kintamani Highlands, near an active volcano. Ithaca says it is organically grown under shade trees (Erythrina, Albizia, tangerine and orange) and handpicked when fully ripe.
It is wet-hulled (Giling Basah), the Indonesian variation on washed processing, then patio dried. Ithaca says that gives it a slightly earthy quality, more body and slightly muted acidity, with flavors of chocolate and vanilla and a nutty sweetness like fresh caramel corn.
